In December 2022, York got new signs on all the major approaches to the city announcing our two long-standing European city partnerships. This was thanks to campaigning by the twinning groups and York for Europe, with full support from Councillor Christian Vassie. Costs were covered by donations. Next step: get something named within the city… Like many British and German towns, Münster has roads named after its UK partner:
part of the major ring road called the York Ring
a shopping mall called York-Center
a housing estate called York Quarter.
While York has nothing named after Münster! There is Dijon Avenue in Acomb, but no Münster Road or Münster Square or Münster Gardens…. So we are asking the Council and developers to name a new central feature of our city after Münster. Any support welcome! Email….yorkmuensterassociation@gmail.com
