Our trip to Münster 25-30 June 2024
Who can go and what's involved?
York residents. You would stay with Münster host families (free) who are members of the Twinning and keen to keep the city links alive.
You do NOT need to be able to speak German.
There will be a reception at town hall, guided city tour, a meal out, other outings, short bike rides, free time to do things alone or with other Yorkies.....in short the programme involves a mix of organised events to get to know Muenster and its citizens and free time.

How do I get there?
Travel is not centrally organised but the York Muenster Twinning Association will help. We can put you in groups so you can travel with others. Here are the travel options.
Cycle: For those liking a sporty challenge. c 40-50 miles per day, flat. Bikers should aim for the Hull ferry evening of 22 June. Book overnight cabin. Then 4 days biking in Netherlands and Germany. Budget for 3 overnights in hotels or B&Bs, plus evening meals. Arrive afternoon 25 June in Münster. Panniers needed.
Eurostar and train: London St Pancras to Cologne direct, then add Cologne>Münster and York>London Kings X. Some 10-12 h on train overall. Alternatively, book London to Amsterdam direct, then Amsterdam>Münster. Little difference in price nor travel time between the two routes. The earlier you book the cheaper, though.
Ferry and train: Arrive at Hull ferry by bus (National Express) or train to Hull station & taxi to ferry terminal, on 24th June. Overnight ferry. There is a bus transfer from Rotterdam ferry to Rotterdam train station. Train Rotterdam>Münster 25 June (1 change is needed).
