Our trip to Münster 25-30 June 2024
In June 2024, a group of York residents will travel to Münster by various means and stay with host families who are members of the twinning association there and keen to keep the city links alive.
There will be a reception at town hall, guided city tour, a meal out, other outings, short bike rides, free time to do things alone or with other Yorkies ... In short, the programme involves a mix of organised events to get to know Münster and its citizens, and free time.
If you're interested in joining in for trips in future years, get in touch and get to know YMTA. Being able to speak German is not a requirement!
Travel is not centrally organised, but YMTA helps arrange groups who can travel together.
Cycle: For those liking a sporty challenge. c 40-50 miles per day, flat. Cyclists aim for the Hull overnight ferry with a cabin. Then 4 days biking in Netherlands and Germany. Budget for 3 overnights in hotels or B&Bs, plus evening meals.
Eurostar and train: London St Pancras to Cologne direct, then add Cologne>Münster and York>London Kings X. Some 10-12 h on train overall. Alternatively, book London to Amsterdam direct, then Amsterdam>Münster. Little difference in price nor travel time between the two routes. The earlier you book, the cheaper it is.
